Area Description: Death's Door, dear traveler, is figurative but real. Much like the lapping waters of Charon's Bay, the sweeping plains within Stone Forest, and others, Promethean Hills serves as a portal between the world that you are coming to and, sadly, the world that you have left behind.
It is, however, only a one-way portal, and those who pass through its ashen surface soon find that it is unlike any door that they have ever encountered before. |

Aerin felt warm and cozy as she nestled under her covers at Thalas Manse, Cicero asleep in her arms and nuzzling against her bare breasts.
At least, she thought that she was doing so.
She felt the pressure of the blankets upon her head and was startled awake by a stale odor and increasing warmth on her exposed skin. nuts... she thought with a frown. Cicero has pissed himself in his sleep again... She reached upward and attepted to pull the sheets and blankets aside only to find that her fingers could not make purchase.
Tighter and hotter the blankets grew, as did both the smell and sense of suffocation.
"f**k..." she tried to cry in frustration only to find her mouth flooded just shortly into the 'fuh' sound by dry, gritty...stuff. She coughed, choked, and gagged as she sat bolt upright, practically swimming through what she thought was her elusive covers to emerge...
...upon a hillside on a bright, sunny day - or rather in a hillside as her hips and legs stayed buried within a virtual mound of ashes and soot, Cicer's tiny simian form choking and spitting as much soot as her own.
It was most certainly an odd dream to say the least but one which Aerin would dream forever as - back in her home world - the discovery of the fire within her bedroom which had consumed the bed and everything in it was only just being discovered.
Aerin Penna Seleratus, Apprentice Mage and Student of the Rocky Isle Guild, was dead. Naked and confused, she and her pet monkey rolled down the embankment to begin their new lives together.
